Performing Basic Website Content Creation and Editing

To be allowed to perform website edits you need to be signed into a squarespace account, and have that account authorized for our website as a website editor or contributor.

Step 1: Create a squarespace account at www.squarespace.com. It is free and you can use your own email as your ID, and create your own password for your squarespace account.

Step 2: Once your squarespace account is created, reach out to the website administrator via an email to plca@pigeon.on.ca and provide your new squarespace account name. Our Office will reach our website administrator and authorize your new account to access our website for adding content.

Step 3: Once you’ve been authorized, you can then login at squarespace.com. Instructions for doing based content is provided below. If you are stuck and find these instructions insufficient: There is a myriad of help within SquareSpace’s own HELP, plus many online YouTube tutorials (including this one by Kevin Stratvert). The majority of the YouTube’s run for 3 minutes to 40 minutes and cover everything “how to” for SquareSpace. This simplicity in design and ease of use, plus the large volume of available self-learn and self-help are some of the most powerful aspects of SquareSpace and a core reason why this website was built using it.

Creating or Editing a Park Sales Listing

To create a Sales Listing, you will add the listing itself with a title, description and photo, and then second, you will complete the listing details.
To be allowed to perform this website edit you need to be signed into the website from Squarespace on an admin ID.

Navigate to the Sales page within the admin interface. Select EDIT at the top left corner, then follow these prompts:

  1. Place your cursor in the section where the existing listings are, and click. A box should appear on the right, with an option to “Manage Projects”. Select “Manage Projects”.

  2. A new editing panel should come up, and click “+”.

  3. The “Add a Project” edit panel will appear, and select “add a blank project”.

  4. Add an image and title (recommend you put the Amount in the title) and SAVE it. This will become the summary box for the listing on the main Sales page.

  5. The above step will also open an Edit panel to create the details for the new listing. Select EDIT in the top left.

  6. Select Add Section, then Add a blank section.

  7. Next add Blocks - recommend one or more text blocks and as many image blocks as desired to create the listing.

  8. SAVE and then EXIT

  9. Don’t forget before you finish to check the MOBILE view for MOBILE phones (top right corner), and make any adjustments, if necessary. You can toggle back and forth between the laptop and mobile views and see the full page preview or edit panels using the three buttons at the top right corner.

  10. To EDIT an existing SALES LISTING Title the steps are very similar to the above, except that existing “Projects” (Sales listings) will appear as a summarized list on the left hand of the screen once you are in EDIT mode. Hover over the item you want to edit in this left hand panel list and you should see three dots as you hover, and hover over these and two choices should appear: SETTINGS and DELETE. You want SETTINGS. A pop-up menu should appear for you to edit the Title and other elements.

  7. Hover over Publish to publish the event or schedule it for later publication. Click Save to save your changes and keep editing, or click Exit and then Save to close the editor.

Keep in mind:

  • Start and end times are set in five-minute increments on a slider.

  • Events need to have an end time. End times can't be hidden.

  • Depending on your site language, the start and end times may display in 12-hour time or 24-hour time. It's not possible to change the date or time format separate from your site language.

  • You can schedule events for up to two years in the future.

After saving, you can open the event settings to customize your event more.

Don’t forget before you finish to check the MOBILE view for MOBILE phones (top right corner), and make any adjustments, if necessary. You can toggle back and forth between the laptop and mobile views and see the full page preview or edit panels using the three buttons at the top right corner.
