Taxes
As mentioned at the 2026 AGM, MPAC (Municipal Property Assessment Corporation)has notified us that they will be completing assessments for our park, as our trailers are due for an updated assessment. MPAC is the Ontario governing body that does the assessment. All assessments will be based on the 2016 base‑year value of your trailer or park model. That means MPAC will determine what your unit would have been worth in 2016, and that value will be used for the three years taxes owed from 2024, 2025, and 2026. Once MPAC sends those assessments to the municipality, Trent Lakes will issue the tax bills. PLCA will pay those bills on behalf of the park and then invoice each member for their portion.
For any members who have upgraded or bought new trailers in the past few years, you will likely find your tax bill a bit higher as a result. The reassessment is being done the week of June 22, and will be billed in the fall. As mentioned, the adjusted tax billing will apply to the 2024, 2025, and 2026 taxes, and, these charges will be in addition to any previous billings. Of course, the new assessments will apply for future years until another assessment is done.
