It’s the Weekend! It’s Party Time! Right?!

Most of us can relate to that occasional weekend with family and friends sitting around the campfire on Friday / Saturday night having a few drinks, listening and singing to the tunes and having laughs that
might have carried into the wee hours of the morning. The key word here is ‘occasional’. Most people understand we just need to cut loose once in a while and don’t have an issue. You also have to remember we’re all different and can have different lifestyles. Not everyone goes to bed early and
during the summer kids might also be given a little more freedom and stay up later.

However, there can be those members that aren’t concerned if their neighbour is being disturbed.

The rules state under Noise: Quiet time is 12:00 am to 8:00 am Monday to Thursday; and 1:00 am to 8:00 am Friday to Sunday including statutory holidays.

So what can you do if your neighbour completely ignores the rules and regularly carries on into the early morning hours?

There are a couple of things you can do:

1. You can start with having a friendly conversation with them. Sometimes people don’t realize how noise carries and just need to have it brought to their attention.

2. If it continues you can bring it to the manager’s attention and ask him to speak to the offending member to remind them about quiet time. (This can be done in person or letter/email).

3. If the issue still continues and we know nobody wants to have to put a complaint in writing but you need to. When a member is in default of the rules and escalation is required the manager must have documentation from the member with site number and contact information in the form of a letter or email stating the issue in order to move forward. Our rules are clear and state the process for 1st , 2nd and
3rd offences which along with your letter / email go into the members file and if the offending member doesn’t rectify the issue they can be brought in front of the board for a membership review.
